Delta Partners sets up shop in Australia

International technology, media and telecom (TMT) consultancy Delta Partners is setting up shop in Australia, with former Nomura analyst Sachin Gupta to lead its investment banking operations in Sydney.

Mr Gupta, the former head of Asian TMT equity research and head of ASEAN equity research at Nomura, also had stints as an analyst at Morgan Stanley and JP Morgan.

He joined Dubai-based Delta Partners in 2018.

Delta has local management consulting and investment banking teams in six other cities and Mr Gupta said setting up operations in Sydney was the next logical step for the firm.

“We have been advising top-tier local operators in Australian and New Zealand here for a few years now,” he said.

“It now makes sense to have local presence given the market potential and the genuine need for domain experts with global insights.

“Our industry and clients are facing some significant headwinds, and Delta Partners has a unique mix of global experts both in management consulting and investment banking to help clients navigate through these,” he said.

Delta offers investment banking and management consulting services to clients in the TMT space.

Mr Gupta will work alongside Vinod Nair, who will lead the local management consulting operations for Delta.

Mr Nair has previously had stints at McKinsey & Company, OC & C Strategy Consultants, and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

With the Australian consultancy market valued over $6bn, Delta co-founder and CEO Victor Font said the firm was keen to replicate the success of its operations in other markets in Australia.

“The decision to expand our presence into Australia and New Zealand came naturally after our previous success in other advanced markets, like Europe or the Americas.”

“The region presents relevant opportunities and is a great fit for the firm,” he said.
