Brookfield eyes Linx Cargo Care sale
Could Brookfield be warming to a sale of Linx Cargo Care?
Sources in the market believe the private equity firm could be contemplating a divestment of the operation.
The company is a ports and logistics operator that employs about 3400 people across Australia and New Zealand. It was previously part of Patrick and the ASX-listed Asciano group of companies before they were taken over in 2016.
At that time, a Brookfield consortium also bought Linx, which was previously called Bulk & Automotive Port Services, from Asciano for $925m.
Some believe that the business may now be worth about $600m.
The company includes Linx, Autocare, C3, Pedersen and GeelongPort. It is involved in logistics, automotive, bulk-handling, project cargo, oil and gas, general stevedoring, port management, agriculture and forestry.
Leading the company is Anthony Jones, who held senior positions at Patrick, Pacific National and Asciano.
The sale comes as Toll moves ahead with plans to offload its Global Express unit, with Allegro Funds Management competing with Platinum Equity to buy the operation.
