British bank Barclays has promoted its Australia head of investment banking, Richard Satchwell, to head of capital markets financing, Asia Pacific.
His previous title was Australian chief executive and head of investment banking for Australia.
Barclays recently appointed Avinash Thakur as its head of investment banking for the Asia Pacific region.
Mr Satchwell will relocate to Singapore and lead the region’s debt and equity financing activities.
He will be succeeded by Duncan Connellan as Australia’s investment banking head for Barclays.
David Henderson will be the Australian chief executive of Barclays, which is one of the shareholders of Australian investment bank Barrenjoey.
Ee-Ching Tay has been named head of mergers and acquisitions for Asia Pacific, while continuing in her current role as head of investment banking Southeast Asia.
Other appointments include Arun Saigal as head of investment banking India, expanding his
remit, in addition to his role as head of financing, and mergers and acquisitions in India.
Pramod Kumar will continue as Barclays’ India chief executive, and he will assume
additional responsibility as vice-chairman, investment banking Asia Pacific.
It comes after Barrenjoey announced in 2022 that Barclays had lifted its stake in Barrenjoey from 9.9 per cent to 18.2 per cent, subscribing for $75m of new capital.
The proceeds were to be used to further increase regulatory capital to over $250m, up from $150m at the start of the 2022 financial year to support its markets business, including its fixed income and derivative and equity financing.
