Former Bunnings boss John Gillam is headed for the CSR chair after being appointed to the board of the building products group today.

CSR (CSR) chair Jeremy Sutcliffe has said he will step down from the job next year after first being appointed in 2011.

Gillam stepped down from running Bunnings late last year ahead of the appointment of Rob Scott as the new chief executive of Wesfarmers (WES).

He has stayed on as a consultant to the company where he is part of a team helping with the UK expansion, though this is due to expire next month.

Gillam’s move comes on the day Wesfarmers celebrates the 10-year anniversary of its $19.3 billonn Coles acquisition.

The next CSR annual meeting is due in June next year and Sutcliffe will step down just before then to allow the new chair to address the AGM.
