Hayne royal commission final report release date set
Josh Frydenberg rebuffs calls for an immediate release of the banking royal commission report, delaying its release until Monday.
Josh Frydenberg will rebuff Bill Shorten’s call for an immediate release of the banking royal commission report, delaying its release until Monday.
The Treasurer said the government would receive the report on Friday and publicly release it on Monday afternoon after the close of the Australian Securities Exchange.
“The final report will be publicly released at 4.10pm on Monday 4 February 2019, following the close of trading on the ASX,” Mr Frydenberg’s office said in a statement.
“Following its release, the Treasurer will hold a press conference at Parliament House.”
Yesterday, the Opposition Leader said Scott Morrison should not play “political games” by holding on to the report for “days or weeks”.
“Release it straight away on Friday. There is no time for games,” he said.
“Too many thousands of people have been victims of bad banking practice. I’m demanding that the government release the report on Friday.
“You didn’t want the royal commission. Don’t pretend now that you are going to save your reputation by hatching it for a few days or weeks.”
