Southern Prime Meat Co Pty Ltd at Brooklyn enters external administration
A prominent Victorian meat company with links to this year’s Mt Disappointment helicopter crash has entered administration. Read all the details.
Victorian end-to-end meat supply company Southern Prime Meat Co Pty Ltd has entered external administration.
According to ASIC documents, FTI Consulting was appointed as the external administrators of the Victorian meat wholesaler on September 14 this year.
FTI were appointed by Scottish Pacific Business Finance Pty Ltd.
Southern Prime Meat Co Pty Ltd representative Brad Reid las week confirmed the ASIC listing with The Weekly Times.
He said that the financial situation had been settled and believed the listing would return to normal imminently.
As of 9.45am Tuesday the company was still listed on ASIC’s website as being in external administration.
The business is listed as being registered in Brooklyn, in Melbourne’s west.
FTI Consulting refused to comment due to confidentiality.
Earlier this year, five people were killed after a helicopter chartered by Southern Prime Meat Co. Pty Ltd crashed on the 800m high Mt Disappointment, 60km north of Melbourne.
The victims were part of a larger party of 11 who were travelling to Victoria’s North East to visit a livestock property run by Southern Prime Meat Co Pty Ltd.
A second helicopter with six passengers on board landed safely.
Following the accident, Southern Prime Meat Co Pty Ltd released a statement saying its staff were “deeply shocked and devastated” and extended its condolences to the families affected. “We will continue to co-operate with the relevant authorities as part of the ongoing investigation,” the statement said.
