Woman found dead near popular Port Melbourne pier

Police are investigating the death of a woman after her body was found floating near a pier in a popular waterfront suburb.

Police have pulled the body of a woman from the water near a Port Melbourne pier on Thursday morning.

A Victoria Police spokesman confirmed a woman was found unresponsive in the vicinity of a pier in the popular waterfront suburb about 10.40am.

“The exact circumstances surrounding the death are yet to be determined,” a police spokesman said.
