WNBL: Foxtel will broadcast all 60 games of the 2020 WNBL season live

The exploits of returning superstar Liz Cambage and her WNBL teammates and rivals will get national exposure with Foxtel to broadcast all 60 games of the 2020 season live.

Basketball Australia has locked in the huge new broadcast arrangements for this year’s unique campaign being played inside a North Queensland hub, providing the league with more visibility than ever before.

The agreement with partners the Foxtel Group and the ABC will televise all 60 games of the 2020 season live across Australia.

Fox Sports will broadcast live four games per week (7pm AEDT Thursday, 5pm AEDT Saturday, 1pm AEDT Sunday and 3pm AEDT Sunday) on Foxtel and Kayo, with the ABC simulcasting on both their primary channel and ABC iview the 5pm Saturday and 3pm Sunday games.

In addition to streaming the games that will be broadcast on Foxtel, Kayo will also stream live all remaining games of the 2020 season, which will involve multi-camera and expert commentary.

It’s a massive boost to the competition that will be played in its entirety across six weeks from November 11 to December 20.

Basketball Australia head of women Lauren Jackson believes the new broadcast deal will put women’s hoops on the map.

“The Australian Opals and our under 19 women’s team are both ranked world number two, and this broadcast arrangement will enable all Australians to witness the skill, strength and athleticism of our players,” Jackson said.

“With all the opportunities that this season presents us, being able to broadcast all our games live across the nation was at the top of the list. This is a wonderful outcome for women’s basketball in Australia, and we are thankful for the support of both Foxtel and the ABC.”

Fox Sports executive director Steve Crawley is thrilled to be associated with the WNBL in such a historic season.
