Wallabies captain and Queensland star Harry Wilson is set to be sidelined for six weeks after breaking his arm in the Reds’ 27-15 loss to the Chiefs.

Wilson’s loss is a blow to third-placed Queensland’s hopes of finishing on top of the Super Rugby Pacific ladder.

Reds coach Les Kiss said Wilson’s injury, which occurred in the closing stages of Queensland’s loss in Waikato last Friday, was an “unfortunate little incident”.

“Hopefully that heals quickly and he’s back in play,” Kiss said on Wednesday.

Wilson’s No.8 position in the Reds’ clash against the ACT Brumbies on Saturday night at Suncorp Stadium will be filled by Joe Brial, who shifts from flanker in reshuffled Queensland pack.

“We saw how Joe Brial stepped up in the back-row against the Chiefs with his best performance for the Reds. and he will get to show his wares at No.8 against the Brumbies,” Kiss said.

Seru Uru, who was rested for the game against the Chiefs, will return at flanker.

In the front-row, props Sef Fa’agase and Zane Nonggorr come into the starting side, replacing Alex Hodgman and Jeffery Toomaga-Allen, who both drop to the bench.

“We have a bench that impacts games and we feel the management of our front-row is giving us an extremely strong scrum week after week,” Kiss said.

In another injury blow to the Reds, Wallabies winger Filipo Daugunu has been sidelined with what has been described as a “lower limb injury”.

Daugunu’s place has gone to Tim Ryan, while at flyhalf, Tom Lynagh has been recalled at the expense of Harry McLaughlin-Phillips.

Lynagh’s halves partner, Queensland captain Tate McDermott, will make his 100th appearance for the Reds.

“When you talk about what it means to be a Queensland Red and what it means to represent this squad, you look no further than Tate McDermott,” Kiss said.

“Beyond his leadership, it’s his commitment to the maroon jersey.”

Reds: Sef Fa’agase, Matt Faessler, Zane Nonggorr, Josh Canham, Lukhan Salakaia-Loto, Seru Uru, Fraser McReight, Joe Brial, Tate McDermott, Tom Lynagh, Tim Ryan, Hunter Paisami, Dre Pakeho, Lachie Anderson, Heremaia Murray. Bench: Richie Asiata, Alex Hodgman, Jeffery Toomaga-Allen, Angus Blyth, John Bryant, Kalani Thomas, Harry McLaughlin-Phillips, Jock Campbell.
