The boss of a major Victorian transport company has been suspended following the news of an anti-corruption watchdog investigation.
V/Line’s chief executive officer has been suspended following news of a probe by Victorian anti-corruption watchdog.
In a statement the state government’s minister for transport Ben Carroll said his department was made aware of the IBAC investigation on Wednesday night.
“Last night I was advised by my Department of an IBAC investigation into V/Line Chief Executive Officer Mr James Pinder,” he said.
“On the basis of that advice, I directed the V/Line Board to immediately suspend Mr Pinder, while IBAC carries out its investigation.”
Nick Foa, currently the Head of Transport Services at the Department of Transport, will step in as V/Line’s acting chief executive officer.
V/Line services are not expected to be affected, and will continue to operate as scheduled.
Mr Carroll could not comment any further about the nature of the investigation.
