Police have issued an update following an urgent alert to locate a man who escaped from police custody in Sydney’s southwest.

A man who escaped from police custody at Silverwater in Sydney’s southwest, sparking an urgent public plea for assistance, has been located.

Gary Glover, 44, was last seen on Jamieson St, Silverwater around 1.30pm on Friday.

Officers attached to Auburn Police Area Command were notified and were conducting inquiries to locate him.

On Friday night, police confirmed they had located the 44-year-old.

“Following inquiries, the man was located in Lethbridge Park,” NSW Police said in a statement.

“He was taken to Mount Druitt Police Station where charges are expected.”
