Two men injured after Logan tobacco shop goes up in flames in ‘suspicious’ fire

Two men have been injured after fire engulfed a tobacco shop south of Brisbane, with police treating the blaze as “suspicious”.

Two men have been seriously injured after a tobacco shop in Logan was set alight while they slept inside in what police say is a suspicious fire.

Police were called to a tobacco shop on Forestglen Crescent in Browns Plains about 12.15am after reports the shop was engulfed in flames.

Two men, aged 47 and 54, were at the scene in the rear of the building as the fire overwhelmed the building, and suffered severe burns.
The men were asleep inside the building as a security precaution when the arsonists attacked, 9News reports.

They told police two unknown men had broken into the tobacco shop and poured a substance inside before setting the building on fire.

The surrounding buildings, including a South African grocer and a computer shop, were also damaged as a result of the fire.

The injured men were transported to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries to their bodies.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson told NewsWire that one man suffered “potentially-life-threatening” injuries to his arms and legs, while the other sustained burns to his legs.

“A crime scene has been declared and police investigations have begun,” a police statement read.
