Townsville’s Mayor Jenny Hill will face court after a crash which resulted in the death of a motorbike rider in January.

Ms Hill was on Friday served with a notice to appear in court after a nine-month investigation into the fatal traffic accident at Aitkenvale on January 30.

The collision between Ms Hill’s Holden Commodore and a Suzuki motorcycle at the intersection of Nathan and Alfred streets occurred just before 8am, police say.

Witnesses, including an off-duty doctor, rendered first aid to 33-year-old Darryl Lynch before he was transported to Townsville Hospital where he died.

Ms Hill, 60, was not physically injured.

The NTA alleges Ms Hill was driving without due care and attention causing death.

She is scheduled to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on October 30.

Ms Hill was first elected to Townsville council in 1997 before becoming mayor in 2012.

The Forensic Crash Unit is continuing investigations and a report is being prepared for the Coroner.
