Tom Rogic among the scorers as Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic thrash Dundee 6-0
Kyogo Furuhashi scored a hat-trick, while Tom Rogic also found the back of the net in Ange Postecoglou’s best day yet as Celtic manager.
Ange Postecoglou has praised his “relentless” Celtic side after the Hoops’ 6-0 thrashing of Dundee.
In front of a Covid-19-restricted crowd 24,500 at Celtic Park, Japanese striker Kyogo Furuhashi netted a hat-trick, while Socceroos midfielder Tom Rogic also scored as Postecoglou’s men recorded their first win of the Scottish Premier League season.
The victory came just three days after Celtic’s 4-2 Europa League success over Czech club Jablonec, with the Scottish giants evolving under former Socceroos boss Postecoglou after a tough start to the season.
“We were relentless and didn’t take our foot off the pedal, so it was pleasing,” Postecoglou told Celtic TV.
“We played some good football and also worked awfully hard.
“We started the game really well which set the tone and it was a good performance from the players.
“I’m delighted for them, and they got their rewards for their hard work.”
Postecoglou hailed the impact of former Vissel Kobe attacker Furuhashi.
“Kyogo got three goals and he could probably have got a couple more but his defensive work was also outstanding and that got the crowd going,” Postecoglou said.
‘It’s hard to single people out because the whole team worked really hard and there wasn’t one player out there who wasn’t trying to do the things that we’re trying to implement.’
“He was closing people down and that’s what he brings, that energy, and I think the other boys filtered off that.”
“If we play our football and also commit to our defensive intent, then we can keep clean sheets and also score goals.”
Celtic return to action on Friday morning (AEST) for the second leg of the Europa League third-round qualifier against Jablonec.
