A toddler has died after being run over by a car in the driveway of a home north of Brisbane.

Emergency services were called to the home at George St, Deception Bay, where it is believed the almost one-year-old was struck by a vehicle reversing out of a driveway about 10.15am on Monday.

The toddler reportedly suffered critical head injuries but died a short time later.

The vehicle was being driven by a male relative, the Courier Mail reported.

Tributes have been left in remembrance of the little boy, including flowers and a small teddy bear.

His paternal grandmother Carolyn Glenn told The Courier-Mail that she was “just numb”.

“You see this stuff happen to other families, I can’t believe it’s happened to us,” Ms Glenn said.

The family confirmed the boy was a few weeks away from celebrating his first birthday.
