Aussie fans of the thrilling hit show, Squid Game, will soon be able to see if they have what it takes when a real-life version opens at a top tourist spot.

A Squid Game reality TV show is coming to Netflix

Aussie fans of the Netflix hit Squid Games will soon have the chance to experience their own version of the fictional game at Luna Park in Sydney.

The immersive adventure Squid Game: The Experience will be opening at Luna Park on December 16, giving fans the chance to participate experience the thrills of the game without the deadly consequences.

The Emmy award-winning South Korean series portrayed fictional players competing for a cash prize - and survival - by completing childish challenges.

Luna Park chief executive officer John Hughes said it was exciting to collaborate with Netflix to give people the opportunity to try their luck at numerous challenges at the in-person event.

“Teaming up to launch Squid Game: The Experience in Sydney’s Immersive Big Top exemplifies our commitment to bringing thrilling and unique experiences to the Park,” Mr Hughes said.

“It’s an integral part of our broader vision as we continue to elevate and transform our offering for our 90th year.

“We can’t wait for our visitors to immerse themselves in Squid Game: The Experience, if they dare.”

Those brave enough to have a go will be able to try to win the infamous Red Light, Green Light game under the watchful eye of Young-hee.

Players will also be dared by the show’s character, Front Man, to put their skills and strategy to the test.

NSW Tourism Association chief executive officer Natalie Godward said she hoped by that providing innovative experiences like the Squid Game would allow visitors to experience the best of what Sydney has to offer.

“As one of Sydney’s most iconic attractions, Luna Park Sydney’s exciting new partnership with Netflix will elevate the visitor experience by bringing Squid Game, one of the world’s most captivating series, to life,” Ms Godward said.

“Already a global success, this experience will provide an exhilarating and immersive adventure.

“Innovative partnerships like this highlight the excellence of the NSW visitor economy, offering memorable experiences for everyone.”

Players may compete in groups of up to 25 but individual players are also encouraged to join in as the team moves through the challenges, with all participants given the chance to move through the game without being eliminated.

The first season of the South Korean dystopian thriller show became a global phenomenon when it was released in September 2021, and has since amassed more than 1.65bn views.

It became the most-watched series in 94 countries across the globe and remains the most viewed show on Netflix.

The show follows an indebted father who is invited to play children’s games in return for a chance to win a massive cash prize..

The second season of The Squid Game is slated to be released in December.
