A man has died and another has been charged following a horror car crash in a suburb of Perth on Saturday morning.

Emergency services were called to Thomas Rd in Oakford, an outer suburb of Perth, about 6.40am Saturday morning following reports of a multi-vehicle crash. It’s understood Jady Turner, 22, was driving his orange Holden Commodore ute in a westerly direction with a red Ford Falcon close by, while two oversized trucks were travelling east on Thomas Rd.

While driving past the trucks, Turner allegedly clipped both of the vehicles, causing the orange car to spin out of control. The ute then collided with a white Ford Ranger travelling behind the trucks, mangling the vehicle in the process.

The impact of the crash was severe, with a nearby resident, Brad Richardson, witnessing the collision and attempting CPR on the 22-year-old driver.

“Young bloke in the car and yeah got him out and did CPR on him and the coppers rocked up and they took over,” Richardson told 9News.

Despite the best efforts from the resident and first responders, Turner sustained critical injuries and could not be saved, later dying in Fiona Stanley Hospital.

The 22-year-old, labelled “an idol for many people”, was remembered as an “amazing man” who will be “missed by everybody”.

According to NSW Police Commissioner Mike Bell, the crash occurred because “the other two cars were travelling far too fast and didn’t have the opportunity to stop because of the speed they were travelling”.

Footage of the fatal crash was captured in a video, Commissioner Bell confirmed, though it would not be released.

“I’ve actually seen the footage of the impact, which we won’t be releasing because it’s just too brutal and … it is just shattering to watch that,” he said.

The 75-year-old driver of the white Ford Ranger sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

The 20-year-old driver of the red Ford sedan and Turner’s passenger, both believed to be friends of the 22-year-old, were not injured in the crash.

The 20-year-old has since been charged with two offences, including dangerous driving causing death and dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm.

He will face Armadale Magistrates Court on December 6.
