Qudos Bank Arena Year 12 mass vaccination hub on alert as NSW exposure site
There are fears Year 12 students have been exposed to Covid-19 after an infected person visited a mass vaccination centre, as the state’s exposure site list grows.
One of Sydney’s mass vaccination hubs has been put on alert after a person tested positive to Covid-19 after visiting the centre earlier this week.
The health department issued an alert for Qudos Bank Arena at Homebush.
Anyone who was there on August 10 between 2.40pm and 4.20pm is considered a casual contact and must isolate until they receive a negative test result.
Those affected are also urged to get another test on August 15.
The hub is being used to help vaccinate Year 12 students from Sydney’s hotspot areas.
Thousands of teenagers started arriving at the hub in Sydney Olympic Park earlier in the week to receive their vaccine as part of a mass vaccination drive for HSC students living in Covid hot spots
The venue is being used to vaccinate about 24,000 Year 12 students.
But on Thursday night NSW Health sent a text message to anyone at the venue notifying them someone who attended the site had tested positive.
Students were told to “wear a mask around others and limit your movements until you get your second negative result”.
“Monitor for COVID-19 symptoms and get tested again at any time if you develop any symptoms,” the text message read.
Western Sydney Local District has been contacted for comment.
