Police to search property for body of missing NSW man

Police are expected to search a NSW property a month after the elderly man went missing.

An elderly man has been charged with murder and unlawful disposal of a corpse as police search for the body of a missing man in NSW.

Police received a report in September that Leppington man Edwin Dobbin, 82, had gone missing.

An investigation to find him was launched to no success.

A 67-year-old man known to Mr Dobbin allegedly told police conflicting information about the incident multiple times.

He was arrested at a Smithfield home about 2.45pm on Thursday following extensive investigations.

He was taken to Fairfield Police Station, and a crime scene warrant was executed at a property in Upper Colo.

It’s believed Mr Dobbin is buried at the Upper Colo property.

He has been charged with murder, hinder investigation serious indictable offence of other and unlawful disposal of corpse.

He was refused bail and is set to front the Fairfield Local Court on Friday.

The search for Mr Dobbin’s body is set to continue on Friday, with police expected to allege in court the two men were known to each other.

Investigations remain ongoing.

Police are set to address the media later Friday morning.

Mr Dobbin was last seen in Leppington about 6.45am on September 25 wearing a brown and white striped shirt, black puffer jacket, black shorts, white socks and brown shoes.

Police and family held serious concerns for Mr Dobbin, who has medical conditions that require medication, according to a media release from October 1.

Mr Dobbin was described as being of Caucasian appearance and between 165cm and 170cm tall with a medium build, grey/black hair, and blue eyes.

Police believed Mr Dobbin could have been near a Camden Valley Way petrol station in Prestons about 7.20am and around The Northern Road in Bringelly about 8.20am on September 25.
