A Chinese woman has disappeared from one of Australia’s premier tourist destinations and the police have launched a fresh appeal to the public in their search operation.

Jianming Xia, 58, was visiting the Gold Coast in Queensland with a tour group when she went missing in October 2023.

“The 58-year-old Chinese national, who was part of a tour group visiting the Gold Coast, was last seen in Surfers Paradise on October 18,” the police said.

“Jianming contacted an associate, advising her that she was leaving the tour group and would return to China in November.

She reportedly departed her View St hotel with a yellow handbag, leaving her suitcase behind

The police have described Jianming as Asian with a medium build and brown hair.

Police are appealing to Jianming, or anyone with information about her whereabouts, to come forward.

The Gold Coast, about 77km south of Brisbane, is a popular tourist spot known for its beaches, nightclubs and theme parks.
