Nudie Foods recalls apple juice product over contamination fears

Another Aussie product is being recalled over contamination fears — this time it’s a popular apple juice.

The deadly dangers of a packed lunch

A popular apple juice available at Woolworths and IGA supermarkets across Australia has been recalled over microbial contamination fears.

Nudie Foods issued the recall of its ‘Nudie nothing but 2 apples 200ml’ product on Thursday.

The juice is sold at Woolworths supermarkets nationally, at IGA stores in NSW, Victoria and South Australia, and independent food retailers in Queensland, Tasmania and WA.

“The recall is due to microbial (mycotoxin – patulin) contamination and the juice may cause illness if consumed,” Food Standards Australia New Zealand said.

“Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice and should return the products to the place of purchase for a full refund.”

The Australian-made juice has a best before date of June 18, 2021.

It comes after Woolworths extended a total recall for its own-brand, 1kg bags of cooked and peeled cocktail prawns to every state and territory but Queensland.

The prawns originate from Thailand and the recall was due to “potential microbial contamination”, which “may cause illness if consumed”.
