Manhunt after 20-year-old woman dies in hit-and-run in Hillcrest, Adelaide

A 20-year-old woman has been killed in a hit-and-run on a busy street, with police revealing new details as they search for the driver.

A manhunt is under way after a woman died in a hit-and-run in an northeastern Adelaide suburb.

The 20-year-old woman was struck by a car on the northbound carriageway of North East Rd at Hillcrest at about 11pm on Tuesday, police say.

She was found lying on the road by patrolling police, who performed CPR.

“Sadly, there was nothing police or paramedics could do, and the 20-year-old woman from Greenacres was pronounced deceased a short time later,” South Australia Police said in statement.

Investigators attended the scene overnight, speaking to witnesses who described seeing a silver car in the area at the time of the crash.

Police have described the silver sedan as having alloy wheels, front driving lights, and possible front-end damage. They allege it failed to stop after the collision.

“The driver of the car is urged to come forward,” the statement read.
