Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries following a gunshot wound.

A man is fighting for life after he was found with a gunshot wound in Melbourne’s southeast.

A man was found with a gunshot wound in Frankston North on Monday night.

Emergency services were called to Armata Crescent about 7.20pm after the man was found.

The 36-year-old was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A crime scene was established, with the area cordoned off.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident remains ongoing.

Detectives from the Armed Crime Squad are appealing for witnesses, with police urging anyone with information to come forward.
