Man dragged from Government House for writing ‘abolish the monarchy’ in Queen condolence book
An anti-monarch protester has been escorted off Government house after writing in a condolence book for the Queen.
A man has been thrown out of South Australia’s Government House for protesting the monarchy.
Video posted to social media shows the man being forced off Government House in Adelaide at 11.30am on Thursday by three police officers.
It is reported the man was ejected because he held a sign and wrote “ABOLISH THE MONARCHY” in a condolence book for Her Majesty.

The man was filmed as he was being escorted off the premises, where he admitted to writing the phrase in the book.
He was then spoken to by police and was banned from entering Government House for 24 hours.
“Colonial oppression has been here for hundreds of years that oppress the Indigenous people of this country,” the man told 10 News.
“I held up a sign that said ‘abolish the monarchy’, then walked out.”
The man said he was told to get out, and as he started to leave he was “grabbed by police” and dragged away.
He said he believed Australia should have a Head of State and all countries should abolish the monarchy.
“I think all countries in the world should abolish monarchies and abolish all economic hierarchies; we should abolish all classes in society,” he said.
The protest occurred at the same time Prime Minister Anthony Albanese gave a speech honouring the Queen in Canberra, following her death two weeks ago.
Multiple people on social media supported the man, with one even dubbing him a “hero”.
“Good on him,” one woman wrote.
However, others were quick to criticise his protest, with one man calling him a “scumbag”.
Another said: “I respect his opinions, but in a condolence book?”
SA Police have been contacted for comment.
