Man charged with murder after Anmoral Bajwa found dead in playground in Melbourne’s southwest
The body of a man being remembered as a source of “love, light and inspiration” has been found in a playground near a primary school.
A man has been charged with murder after another man’s body was found in a playground near a primary school in Melbourne’s southwest.
The 36-year-old Mambourin man’s body was found in a park near Elementary Rd in Mambourin – about 10km from Werribee – about 7.30am on Tuesday.
Loved ones have revealed the man is Anmoral Bajwa.
A GoFundMe page has been set up by a friend of the family to support Mr Bajwa’s wife and children.
Ishtpal Singh, 32, has been charged with murder. Mr Singh appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
Through his defence lawyer, the court was told Mr Singh was in custody for the first time.
The legal aid defence lawyer told the court that Mr Singh was “not able to make a bail application today”.
No pleas were entered. The matter has been scheduled for a committal hearing on May 23.
Court staff were organising prescribed antidepressant medication to be made available for Mr Singh.
The fundraiser set up for Mr Bajwa describes him as “a father, a husband and a loving son”.
“Anmoral was a community and family-orientated person who worked hard to build a better life in Australia,” the fundraiser stated.
Another friend, Babbu Khehra, offered his own tribute to Mr Bajwa on Facebook.
“Anmoral was a source of love, light, and inspiration to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him,” he wrote.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his legacy live on in the lives he touched.”
