Disgraced lawyer Nicola Gobbo will have her name struck off the legal roll after it was revealed she was informing on her clients to police.
Victoria’s notorious Lawyer X will have her name struck off the legal roll for her part in duping her clients and informing to police while a barrister.
Disgraced barrister Nicola Gobbo was first registered as a police snitch in the mid-’90s but from 2005 she was informing on her clients.
“The Victorian Legal Services Board and Commissioner has today issued proceedings in the Supreme Court to obtain an order that Nicola Gobbo’s name be removed (struck-off) from the roll,” a statement reads.
Ms Gobbo has not practised as a lawyer since 2014, according to the legal board.
The roll contains the names of people admitted to practise law in Victoria and is maintained by the state’s Supreme Court.
A royal commission into the management of police informers was launched in December 2018 after the extent of Ms Gobbo’s duplicity was made public.
The final report is due to be handed down at the end of next month.
