Jewish students allege they were targeted on Melbourne tram

Police are investigating a report of ‘racially motivated offensive behaviour’ after a group of students was targeted on a tram.

A group of Jewish students allegedly had anti-Semitic comments shouted at them on a Melbourne train.

A Victoria Police spokesperson said a report of “racially motivated offensive behaviour” on a tram in the Melbourne suburb of Caulfield on Monday is being investigated.

“Officers were told two men approached five girls on a tram near Balaclava Street and shouted offensive comments about 12.30pm,” the spokesperson said.

“There were no physical injuries.”

The Herald Sun reported the students from Beth Rivkah College were approached by two boys who allegedly yelled out “heil Hitler” at them after they got off the tram.

Police have urged anyone with information to come forward.
