Platforms at the international and domestic train stations at Sydney Airport have been reopened after a threat prompted a police operation that included a 90-minute evacuation.

A threat was made that concerned the domestic train station, which triggered a lockdown of the area down from 1pm until just after 2.30pm.

“A police operation is under way at the International and Domestic railway stations at Sydney Airport,” NSW Police media officials wrote in a statement.

“The platforms have been evacuated as a precaution. More info will be available as it comes to hand.”

NSW Police had been looking for suspicious items due to the threat.

“The police operation at Sydney Airport Railway Stations has now concluded. A precautionary search was conducted, and no items were found,” police posted on social media later Sunday afternoon.

Transport NSW had also notified travellers of changes to rail lines, including bus replacements for some routes during the operation.

During the operation, trains did not stop at Green Square, Mascot, Domestic Airport, International Airport or Wolli Creek.

“Services have now resumed through the area. Some flow-on delays are being experienced,” a Transport NSW spokesperson said Sunday afternoon.

“Some services on the Airport Line are currently experiencing delays due to an earlier police operation. Please allow additional travel time and listen for announcements.”
