The Hyatt Regency in Perth is about to undergo a massive change that will see the global hotel chain cease trading in the west, as the venue is rebranded.

On Monday, Tuan Sing announced it was terminating its contract with the Hyatt’s Perth hotel on August 31 costing the company about $2m as it looked at expanding it’s hospitality businesses across the Asia-Pacific region.

The Hyatt has been operating out of the hotel in Perth’s CBD near the Swan River since 1988.

A Tuan Sing spokesman said the company planned to maintain operations throughout the change of management process, with the site set to operate as a hospitality venue.

The hotel’s parent company Tuan Sing confirmed the site would remain a hospitality focused venue offering short and long stay accommodation.

“Tuan Sing plans to share further information on a new hospitality offering for the site in the coming months, but can confirm the site will remain a hospitality-focused venue offering both short and long stay accommodation to guests,” the spokesman said.

They did not confirm if any job losses would result from the change, but there were no plans for the site to close throughout the changeover process.

“The announcement today from Tuan Sing does not impact any other Hyatt venues in Australia, including the Grand Hyatt in Melbourne,” the spokesman said.
