One man, Josiah Hein, was hoping to catch the UFC match on TV, instead witnessing a fight break out right in front of him.

While drinking his hot chocolate, Mr Hein watched as two men “started teeing off against these security guys”.

“It was pretty gnarly,” he told 9News.

It’s understood the two men, who are believed to be father and son, refused to leave the premises when requested.

Bystanders stepped in to reduce the commotion, pinning the men to the ground. However, as things escalated, one of the security guards mistakenly restrained an innocent bystander who was trying to help.

“He just grabbed the guy who was helping by the head and ripped his neck back,” Mr Hein recalled. “It was an interesting way to start the morning.”A Star Casino spokesman confirmed that security guards were injured during the brawl and required medical attention.

Queensland Police said a 25-year-old man from Mermaid Beach had been arrested and charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and fail to leave the premises. The man has since been banned from the safe night precinct, which is designed to reduce late-night drug and alcohol-related violence.
