Two people who were asleep in their home when a car ploughed into it are among those hospitalised after the crash.

A car was travelling along Hallam Rd in Hampton Park, in Melbourne’s south, at about 4.30am on Wednesday when it suddenly veered off and slammed into the home, according to police.

The two people inside the home were not injured but were taken to hospital for observation.

A police spokesman said the driver and passenger in the vehicle received non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.

“The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are yet to be determined and investigations remain ongoing,” he said.

The car took out a nearby fence and several bins left out on the kerb for collection before crashing into the home on Ivan Crescent, according to The Herald Sun.

A neighbour told the masthead she heard an “ungodly noise” unlike anything she had heard before, not noticing her fence was knocked down amid the chaos.

Police urged anyone who witnessed the crash, has dashcam footage or information to contact Crime Stoppers.
