‘Flames running into the gutter’: Two hospitalised after fiery car and motorbike crash
A 21-year-old man is in a serious condition and a 65-year-old woman has been hospitalised after a motorcycle and car collided before bursting into flames.
Two people have been hospitalised after a car and a motorbike collided in southwest Sydney before exploding into flames.
Emergency services were called to Copperfield Dr in Ambarvale about 12pm on Tuesday after reports of a serious crash.
When police arrived, they discovered a motorbike and car had collided, with the car bursting into flames and billowing smoke into the air.
“It took firefighters about 15 minutes to get this fire contained,” Fire and Rescue NSW superintendent Adam Dewberry told NewsWire.
“This includes a running fuel fire, were the fuel has spilt out of the vehicle, has caught fire and flames were literally running down the road into the gutter.”
The 21-year-old motorcycle rider was treated at the scene by paramedics, before being transported to Liverpool Hospital in a serious condition.
A 65-year-old woman who was driving the vehicle was also treated at the scene. and taken to hospital to undergo mandatory testing.
NSW Police are investigating the incident.
