A popular food item used as an appetiser or in main dishes and sold at Woolworths, Coles and IGAs across Australia has been recalled.

A popular brand of jalapenos sold at major supermarkets across the country has been recalled over fears the product may contain glass.

Fehlbergs pickled sliced jalapenos chilli medley in 470g jars had been recalled, Food Standards Australia said on Thursday.

“The product has been available for sale at Coles, Woolworths and independent retailers including IGA nationally,” it said.

The item has a best-before date of April 30, 2028.

“The recall is due to the presence of foreign matter (glass), which could cause illness or injury if consumed,” Food Standards said.

Consumers should not eat this product and return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Anyone concerned about their health should seek medical advice.
