Footage of an explosive argument involving Michael Clarke, girlfriend Jade Yarbrough and Karl Stefanovic rocked the nation this week.

The nation was shocked earlier this week when a video emerged of an Australian sporting great appearing to get slapped clean across the face by his girlfriend.

Cricketing legend Michael Clarke has faced a barrage of criticism for an alleged affair with his ex-girlfriend while dating interior designer Jade Yarbrough.

The night in question was January 10 when Clarke and Yarbrough were holidaying on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast with Yarbrough’s sister Jasmine, her husband Today show host Karl Stefanovic and their friend, celebrity accountant Anthony Bell.

So intense was the spat Queensland Police confirmed they were investigating before issuing a fine to the unhappy couple.

“Queensland Police have issued a 30-year-old Queensland woman and 41-year-old New South Wales man with Public Nuisance Infringement Notices,” a statement read.

“No other offences were detected during the investigation.”

Explosive footage first emerged on Wednesday night of a shirtless Clarke being slapped across the face in Lion’s Park in Noosa.

“I’m f**king wrong? You’re a f***ing liar.” Yarbrough screamed.

A passer-by recognised the former Australian cricketer and captured the tail-end of an argument that appears to show Yarbrough confronting him over suspicions he had cheated on her with ex-girlfriend Pip Edwards.

The pair reportedly broke up in February 2021 but the video suggests Clarke had recently texted the designer of activewear brand PE Nation to come to India with him.

“I can see everything. You called her,” Yarbrough said between shoving Clarke.

“Baby you’re wrong, you’re wrong,” Clarke replied saying he had been with Mr Bell that evening.

“Baby, baby, Belly was at the house. I swear on my life, I swear at my life … That’s not true, it’s not true.”

Shocked onlookers watched the mayhem unfold as Clarke pleaded with Yarbrough to slap him again.

A bystander reportedly yelled “there‘s children over there” in the middle of the fight.

“You‘re f**king lying to me. You are a piece of s**t. I just spoke to her. What is wrong with you?” Yarbrough said.

“It’s not true, it’s not true.”

“You f***ed her on December 17,” Yarbrough screams.

“Jade it’s not f***king true,” Clarked said.

Jasmine Stefanovic tried to drag her sister away to diffuse the situation and then Clarke turned his attention to Stefanovic.

“Karlos, I can tell you now c***, don‘t you f*****g walk away,” Clarke barks at an out-of-frame Stefanovic.

“She can, she can punch me, but you, you C***.”

“You piece of s**t, don't you f*****g speak to him,” Jade screamed back in her brother-in-law’s defence.

“Do it again, you're wrong, you’re f**king wrong” he yells.

“Oh am I wrong? You f**ked her on December 17, you banged on her f**king door … I’m want to see every last f**king message you ever f**king sent her,” Yarbrough screamed back.

“You want to send her to India with you?

“Oh yeah, ‘You’re the love of my life Pip, come to India.”

The video then cuts out as Clarke locks eyes with the bystander filming and he realises the video will be made public.

In a statement issued to The Daily Telegraph on Wednesday night, Clarke said he accepted “full” responsibility for the altercation and was “shattered” by his actions.

“I’m absolutely gutted I’ve put people I hold in the highest regard in this position. My actions in the lead-up to this altercation were nothing short of shameful and regrettable,” he said.

“I am shattered that because of my actions I’ve drawn women of class and integrity, and my mates, into this situation.

“I own this fully and am the only one at fault.”

It is believed the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) may be reviewing their plans for Clarke to join their commentary team for the Australian team’s upcoming tour of India which is due to start on February 9.

Edwards responded with a brief but scathing statement after the news broke saying the public spat was “not my circus”.

“Yet again, Michael in his true nature has not taken responsibility for his actions and I was blatantly lied to,” she said.

She did not deny the allegations.

Karl Stefanovic was noticeably silent on the matter when the Today show broadcast went live on Thursday morning despite the story dominating headlines.

Channel 7’s morning show Sunrise, on the other hand, had the video on rotation throughout their morning broadcast.

Stefanovic flew to Melbourne on Thursday night for the Channel 9 coverage of the Australian Open tennis tournament.
