Dozens spotted partying at Maroubra Beach in major COVID breach
Police were called to Maroubra Beach in the early hours of Sunday morning after a large group was spotted gathering on the sand.
Maroubra locals have been left reeling after a large group spotted partying on the sand in the early hours of Sunday morning, left behind rubbish and debris.
Police were called to the beach on Sunday morning but said the group had quickly dispersed, a spokeswoman said.
Images from the scene shows a large group gathered at the beach.
“Rave at South Maroubra still going strong at 5.40am (Sunday). Wish they would have picked up after themselves,” one community member posted on Facebook.
Others called for organisers to be made responsible while one local said he arrived for Nippers about 5.30am when the group started emerging from the bushes.
“Looked like a scene from the walking dead,” he wrote.
“Pretty pathetic with the c**p left behind.”
Under current COVID-19 restrictions, NSW residents can only gather in groups of up to 30.
Police can issue individuals an on-the-spot fine of $1000 if they don’t follow public health orders.
