Gladys Berejiklian reveals she was tested as state records zero days of no local cases

A croaky Gladys Berejiklian reveals she was among the 17,000 NSW residents who were tested for coronavirus overnight, as the state records another day of no local cases.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian was noticeably losing her voice while addressing the media on Wednesday morning before confessing she was one of the 17,000 people who got tested on Tuesday.

“I was negative,” the Premier confirmed.

NSW has recorded 11 consecutive days of zero community transmission, with no new local cases announced on Wednesday. But seven infections were diagnosed in hotel quarantine.

The Premier said chief health officer Dr Kerry Chant would be updating advice regarding South Australia later on Wednesday.

Ms Berejiklian said the border remains open but NSW residents will be encouraged to avoid or delay travelling there unless absolutely necessary while the state gets its outbreak under control.

“If it’s not essential travel, really think about whether you need to go there in the next few days,” she said.

“But we are confident South Australia has it under control.”
