An Adelaide woman woke to find an intruder standing at her kitchen stove cooking chicken and eggs in a frying pan, police have said.

It is alleged the woman, who lives in the southern suburb of Seacombe Gardens, woke just before 5.30am on Thursday to her dog barking and the smell of food.

On investigation, she found a woman cooking in her kitchen.

“When challenged, the unwanted cook walked out of the house via a rear door,” SA Police said.

Police were called and quickly located the suspect nearby.

She was refused police bail and is expected to appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court later on Monday.
