Bunnings Ozito Portable Electric Blower model recalled due to electric shock fears

A popular tool has been recalled by Bunnings Warehouse after a malfunction injured several people using it.

Bunnings Warehouse has recalled a popular gardening tool over fears it poses a risk of electric shock.

The Ozito Portable Electric Blower Model is designed to clear away leaves in residential setting and retails for $59.

However, the product can break during use and rupture the casing, giving access to live parts and releasing sharp objects at high speed, according to Bunnings.

The defect poses a serious risk of electric shock and can cause serious injuries from sharp objects at high speed.

Already it has caused a number of injuries to consumers.

Numerous batches are affected by the malfunction, with Bunnings advising the batch number label is located near the product’s air intake vent.

Customers should immediately unplug the blower before contacting Ozito for a full refund.

Bunnings General Manager, Merchandise, Adrian Pearce said customers can also return the defected product to any of their stores around Australia.

“Bunnings is promoting the recall of a Ozito portable Electrical Blower, model number OZBL1800WA and is green in colour, which customers were first advised about in 2015,” he said.

“(We) take the safety of its customers very seriously and we encourage any remaining owners of this model to return the product to their nearest Bunnings.”

The Ozito was sold through Bunnings stores nationally.
