Aude Alaskar named as 27-year-old who died of Covid-19 in Sydney
The 27-year-old who died of Covid-19 in Sydney’s horror Delta outbreak after deteriorating rapidly has been named.
Tributes have flowed from shocked relatives of a 27-year-old man from western Sydney who became the youngest victim of the state’s Covid-19 crisis.
Health authorities said the man from Liverpool, who has been identified as Aude Alaskar, deteriorated rapidly after being infected with the virus and was found dead in his home.
The man was in isolation for 13 days after contracting the virus from his wife, according to media reports.
Chief health officer Kerry Chant told reporters on Wednesday morning the man’s wife had since been hospitalised.
“He was being checked daily and he did complain of feeling a little fatigued but the deterioration happened suddenly,” she said.
“It is important that we understand that with Covid you can get sudden deaths and I think that is important to understand your health status can deteriorate.”
A man who told NCA NewsWire he was Mr Alaskar’s cousin shared his grief on Facebook, describing the death as a painful tragedy.
“Our prayers to God to bless him in his spacious paradise,” Atheer Aljabbari posted.
Another cousin, Bash Mnati, said Mr Alaskar had only been married for three months when tragedy struck.
“He was so nice, he was so good, he never had any trouble with anyone,“ Mr Mnati told the ABC.
“He just got married about three months ago and his wedding party was in two months’ time.”
Mr Mnati said relatives were struggling to come to terms with the sudden death of his cousin, who worked as a forklift driver and had no underlying health conditions.
“He was a soccer player, he was a very fit guy. He used to always do sports. He never smoked, doesn’t drink,” he said.
