Brisbane’s lockdown has been extended as the list of Covid-19 exposure sites expanded again after a mum and daughter tested positive.

Brisbane remains gripped in an escalating Covid-19 outbreak after two new unlinked cases reported on Friday were revealed to have visited a number of venues across the city.

Residents were eagerly awaiting the health update expecting the lockdown directives to be lifted at 6pm Friday, but chief health officer Dr Jeannette Young has demanded more time to allow her team to frantically contact trace the two cases.

Brisbane City and Moreton Bay local government areas will remain in lockdown but the strict measures for other parts of the state will be lifted.

The state reported three new cases but two have sparked major concern – a mother and daughter from Carindale who visited a number of areas while infectious.

Exact details are yet to be announced, but those sites include Harris Farm Market and Woolworths in the West End on Sunday June 27, the Greek Orthodox Community Centre in South Brisbane on June 28 and 29, as well as stores in the CBD including JB Hi-Fi, Woolworths Metro (Turbot Street), Zara, Mecca Maxima and Espreso Engine on June 29.

Health authorities have urged Queenslanders who visited any venue on the close contact list to get tested, contact Queensland Health and quarantine immediately until directed otherwise.

Casual contacts were urged to isolate until a negative test is returned.

An alert has also been issued for the News@BNE shop at the airport, Breeze Cafe at the Prince Charles Hospital, and Club Hoops Tennis Centre in Chermside.
