Adelaide United desperate to return to winning ways against Macarthur FC
‘Healthy disagreements’ are ‘fine’ with Adelaide United coach Carl Veart, who is intent on finding a solution to the Reds’ form woes.
Adelaide United coach Carl Veart is adamant the Reds have had their form slump and can kickstart their A-League title campaign with a home win over Macarthur FC on Friday night.
The Reds have won just one of their past seven matches and have dropped to fifth on the ladder.
Their poor run of results included being held to a 1-1 home draw last Saturday by competition cellar dwellers Brisbane Roar.
Veart was extremely critical of his team straight after the draw, but on Friday was confident the Reds would be “fine”.
“Everyone is on the same page and pushing in the same direction because we all want success,” Veart said.
“Yes, there will be disagreements at times, but as long as they’re healthy disagreements, we’ll be fine.
“Every team has dips in form, and we’ve had ours, but we know what we need to do in the final stretch (of the season).
“If we stick to our plan, we can achieve success, and that’s what we’re striving for.”
Adelaide’s form at Coopers Stadium has been ordinary for most of the season, leading to Veart taking a different approach ahead of Friday night’s battle with the Bulls.
“We’ve made some changes to how we train leading into home games, and we’ve also adjusted how we do our meetings to get the focus right,” he said.
“When things aren’t working, you have to make changes. What we’ve been doing at home hasn’t worked, so we’re always looking for ways to improve.
“The staff is constantly analysing what we can do better, and we need to find the right formula to get results at home.
“We need to pick up more wins at home, especially for our fans. They support us passionately, and we want to reward them with good performances and results.”
“We’ve had a really strong week on the training pitch, and we’re looking forward to showing our quality on Friday night.”
The Reds have signed teenage wing-back Harry Crawford – who scored a stunning goal against the Roar – with his first professional deal, a contract that won’t expire until 2029.
“It was always my goal to play for the Reds,” Crawford said.
“The goal at the weekend felt surreal, and it was so special to score at Coopers Stadium.
“This is where I always wanted to be, and I’m incredibly grateful to the club for believing in my ability.
“This is the right environment for me to develop and improve.”
