ACCC issues recall alert for faulty DVD player sold at JB Hi-Fi

A popular product sold at JB Hi-Fi stores between January and October has sparked serious safety concerns.

A portable DVD player sold at JB Hi-Fi has been recalled over concerns it could cause serious injury, death or property damage.

The ACCC has urged consumers to stop using the Blaupunkt dual screen portable DVD player.

The alert warns the battery could overheat and catch fire, with an incident having already occurred.

“There is a risk of serious injury, death and/or property damage from fire. An incident has occurred,” the alert states.

The product was sold at JB Hi-Fi stores between January 1 this year through to October 7.

People have been urged to stop using it immediately and return it for a full refund.

The affected serial numbers are AGL37790001 to AGL37791000.
