Nicole Kidman teams up with Yellowstone creator
Kidman will star as a senior CIA supervisor in Yellowstone producer Taylor Sheridan’s upcoming espionage thriller.
Nicole Kidman stepped out in a striking Ferragamo suit fit for the halls of Washington for the launch of her new Paramount+ series, Special Ops: Lioness.
The series, in which Kidman stars and is attached as an executive producer, is the latest from Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan. The espionage thriller is based on a real CIA program that trained and dispatched women as undercover operatives.
Kidman plays Kaitlyn Meade, a senior CIA supervisor who oversees the program from Washington while juggling “the trappings of being a woman in the high-ranking intelligence community”.
“It’s a secretive world,” Kidman told Vanity Fair of the project. “They put their country before themselves by remaining anonymous. They have to remain anonymous to preserve their program.”
Kidman reportedly hesitated on taking the role in the multi-season series but was convinced when Sheridan asked her to join as a producer. “Before he had written anything, he was just like, ‘I want a woman to produce this with me’,” she said.
“I said, ‘But I’d also love to be in it, in a sort of pivotal supporting role. I didn’t want to play a lead in a series, but I wanted to speak his dialogue.”
The cast also includes Zoe Saldana, Jill Wagner, Dave Annable, LaMonica Garrett, James Jordan, Austin Hebert, Hannah Love Lanier, Stephanie Nur, and Jonah Wharton.
Lioness adds to Sheridan’s growing slate of Paramount productions, which include Yellowstone, its prequel limited series 1923, the Sylvester Stallone dramady Tulsa King, Mayor of Kingstown, and upcoming projects Land Man and Bass Reeves.
At a photo call at the IET in London on Tuesday, the Oscar-winning actor opted for a taupe suit with a low-cut blazer and skinny flared trousers from Maximillian Davis’ Ferragamo Resort 2024.
Later that evening, at the premiere held at Tate Britain art museum, she transformed her look, donning a floor-sweeping chiffon halter-neck dress from Saint Laurent. The ensemble was perfectly complemented by opera gloves, the accessory de rigour among A-listers such as Kate Middleton, Sydney Sweeney, and Rihanna.
Kidman has been an in-demand star in the television space in recent years. Most notably, she starred in and executive produced the HBO hit drama Big Little Lies, for which she won an Emmy
