Final season of The Crown set for November release
Season six will be released in two parts, covering the events of 1997 through 2005.
The final season of The Crown will cover the 1997 Paris car accident that killed Princess Diana and the early days of the relationship between Prince William and Kate Middleton.
Season six will be split into two parts, with part one, which will drop on November 16, featuring four episodes dedicated to Princess Diana’s relationship with Dodi Fayed and the fatal car crash that killed them both in August of that year.
Australian actor Elizabeth Debicki, who plays Princess Diana, told British Vogue that taking on the role had been a “huge gift.”
“It’s a story of immense transformation – and triumph too. The public got to watch her evolve into an incredibly strong woman, trying to control a narrative that was the slipperiest thing ever,” she said.
Part two, to be released on December 14, will see through the fallout of that tragedy up through to 2005, and will cover Queen Elizabeth’s Golden Jubilee in 2002, the premiership of Tony Blair, and Prince William and Kate Middleton’s burgeoning romance. It has been reported that the series will culminate with King Charles’ 2005 marriage to Camilla Parker-Bowles.
Netflix has released a teaser trailer for the forthcoming series cut with a Voice over by Claire Foy, Olivia Colman and Imelda Staunton — every actor that has portrayed Queen Elizabeth II in the show.
