The 2025 BAFTA Awards: see the nominees

Conclave, Edward Berger’s smart thriller about choosing a new pope, is the leader of this year’s EE British Academy Film Awards, known as the BAFTAs.

The film scooped 12 nominations, including Best Film, Best Director and Best Lead Actor for Ralph Fiennes. It’s hardly surprising that Conclave has emerged as a BAFTAs darling. Berger’s last film, All Quiet on the Western Front, garnered 14 nominations and won seven awards in 2023.

Guy Pearce is the only Australian up for an award, he’ll compete for Best Supporting Actor for his mesmerising turn in Brady Corbet’s The Brutalist, up for nine awards including best film.

Also competing for the top film prize are James Mangold’s Bob Dylan film A Complete Unknown (6 nominations), Emilia Perez (11 nominations), and Anora (7 nominations).

But the real surprise? Kneecap. This sweary and sweaty semi-fictionalised comedy about the Belfast rap trio of the same name, told partially in the Irish language and largely overlooked by American awards shows, earned six nominations.

The 2025 BAFTA Awards will take place on February 16.
