ONLY days after becoming Qantas's new ambassador, Miranda Kerr has taken to the red carpet of G'day USA's black-tie gala in Hollywood.

Supermodel Kerr, 28, photographed without husband Orlando Bloom and son Flynn, looked stunning in a floor-length belted white dress with a thigh-high side slit.

She was joined by other Australian and other celebrities at the gala held at Los Angeles's Hollywood & Highland Grand Ballroom.

Melbourne-based celebrity chef Guy Grossi catered for the 900 attendees, with Australian wines such as South Australia's d'Arenberg Wines also showcased.

Another South Australian product was also spied at the gala, with up-and-coming Adelaide-born actress Teresa Palmer walking the red carpet in a daring black leather dress.

After appearing with Kerr at the G'day USA Qantas party on Thursday, John Travolta arrived at the black-tie event with wife Kelly Preston.

Travolta, also a Qantas ambassador, has reportedly hit it off with Kerr, sharing parenting tips for their one-year-old boys when introduced.

It would not be an Australian event without one of the country's biggest ambassadors -- actor Paul Hogan -- gracing the red carpet of the Tourism Australia event with his wife and fellow Crocodile Dundee actress Linda Kozlowski.

The Saturday night gala was the ninth black-tie event to be held as part of G'day USA week to recognise high-profile Australian achievers in the entertainment industry.

Actor Guy Pearce appeared with wife Kate Mestitz as 2012 honorees for promoting Australia in the US.

Pearce was inducted as an honoree by his British Mildred Pierce co-star Kate Winslet.

They will both also be attending today's 69th Golden Globe Awards; he is nominated for best performance in a supporting role for the television mini-series, while Winslet's nomination is for best actress and the show has been nominated for best mini-series or motion picture made for television.

Air Supply, one of the first Australian bands to make it in the US, also received an honoree award at the gala. NBA basketballer Luc Longley was also honoured.
