Harry Potter reunion to stream on Binge

Australian devotees of the Harry Potter franchise can rest easy knowing streaming service Binge will be airing the much-anticipated event at the same time as the rest of the world.

It’s the reunion fans around the world didn’t know they were missing. And now Australian devotees of the Harry Potter franchise can rest easy knowing streaming service Binge will be airing the much-anticipated event at the same time as the rest of the world.

The one-off special, Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts, will stream on Binge at 7:01pm AEDT on Saturday 1 January 2022 and will see the esteemed cast members of the eight Harry Potter films return to the place where it all began to celebrate the anniversary of the saga’s first film, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, which premiered 20 years ago.

All three of stars who made the franchise so loved – Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson – will be returning.

The reunion will also feature appearances from fellow cast mates Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange), Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) Gary Oldman (Sirius Black), Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy) and of course Ralph Fiennes who played the villainous Voldemort. Other actors who starred across the eight films, including Imelda Staunton, James and Oliver Phelps, Mark Williams, Robbie Coltraine and Ian Hart, will also join in on the tribute.

Featuring in-depth interviews and conversations between the cast, fans will see for the first time what went down behind the scenes of the films that have been watched by millions of people since it first hit the big screen in 2001.

The night will be a celebration of the magic behind the making of the films and the incredible sets created at Warner Bros. Studios London where the story of the young wizard was brought to life.

Binge Executive Director Alison Hurbert-Burns said bringing the reunion to Australian fans was part of the platform’s commitment to “delivering the world’s best shows and TV’s biggest moments” to viewers.

“The Harry Potter franchise is a global sensation, with a fan base that spans every corner of the globe,” Hurbert-Burns said. “Binge is thrilled to be able to bring these special events to the millions of Australian fans who have read the books, watched the films and grown-up with the magic of Harry Potter.”
