Guy Pearce misses out on Golden Globe
AUSTRALIAN actor Guy Pearce has missed out on a Golden Globe for his role in TV mini-series Mildred Pierce.
ACTOR Guy Pearce has missed out on a Golden Globe.
The 44-year-old actor from Melbourne was nominated in the supporting TV actor category for his performance in the five-part TV mini-series, Mildred Pierce, however it was Peter Dinklage for Game of Thrones who was victorious.
The other nominees in the category were Modern Family sitcom star Eric Stonestreet, Paul Giamatti for the TV movie Too Big To Fail and Tim Robbins for another TV movie, Cinema Verite.
Pearce won an Emmy for the role last September.
Earlier in the ceremony Pearce's co-star in Mildred Pierce, Kate Winslet, was victorious for best actress in a TV mini-series or movie.
The 69th Golden Globe Awards is taking place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.
In other awards, Madonna won best original song for Masterpiece, from her movie W.E., beating Elton John's song, Hello Hello, from Gnomeo & Juliet.
Laura Dern, for her new show Enlightened, upset Tina Fey (30 Rock), Amy Poehler (Parks and Recreation) and Zooey Deschanel (New Girl) for the best actress in a comedy TV series.
Kelsey Grammer was also crowned the winner for best actor in a TV drama for his new series, Boss.
