George Clooney makes a splash at Brisbane pool
The Hollywood star is in Queensland with Julia Roberts to shoot romantic comedy Ticket to Paradise.
George Clooney made a splash at Brisbane’s Centenary Aquatic Centre on Monday when he arrived to film scenes for his new comedy Ticket to Paradise.
The two-time Oscar winner had a swim at the Spring Hill pool while surrounded by production crew, for a movie that is supposed to be set in Bali.
Afterwards, and with a towel draped around his shoulders, Clooney gave onlookers a glimpse of his famous matinee-idol smile after he finished the shoot at the pool in Spring Hill.
Clooney, 60, is making the film at locations around Queensland with co-star Julia Roberts. At the weekend, Clooney and his wife, human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, were spotted with Roberts dining at the Lobby Bar at the swish Calile Hotel in Fortitude Valley.
In Ticket to Paradise, Clooney and Roberts play a divorced couple who attempt to stop their daughter, played by Kaitlyn Dever, from marrying.
The romantic comedy directed by Ol Parker was to have been filmed in Bali, but was moved to Queensland locations because of the pandemic restrictions.
The federal government has given $6.4m to the project through the film location incentive program.
Filming began last month and the shoot has already taken Clooney and Roberts to locations including the Whitsundays, the Gold Coast and Brisbane International Airport.
Roberts and Clooney are two of Hollywood’s most bankable stars. They have previously appeared together in the 2001 remake of Ocean’s Eleven and its sequel, Ocean’s Twelve. They also co-starred in Money Monster, directed by Jodie Foster.
Universal Pictures Australia has scheduled Ticket to Paradise for local release next September.
