Someone, check in on Sylvester Stallone.

The steadfast action star has, once again, been nominated for his most loathed awards ceremony: The Golden Raspberry Awards, aka The Razzies.

Now in its 42nd year, The Razzies — founded as an antidote to the self-congratulatory Oscars by film trailer copywriter John Wilson — is designed to “honour” the worst of this year’s films.

The fourth instalment of Stallone’s action franchise, The Expendables, annoyingly titled Expend4bles, leads this year’s nominees with seven, including a worst supporting actor nod for Stallone and worst supporting actress for his co-star, Megan Fox.

Stallone is the most nominated actor in Razzies history, with over two dozen nominations. It’s not an honour he takes kindly to, according to Wilson, who told The Hollywood Reporter that after Stallone was nominated for Worst Actor of the Century, “We did get a voicemail that sounded like him — for legal reasons we can’t say it was him. But his point was, my movies make money, stop picking on me.”

Some have taken their Razzie recognition with grace. Like Sandra Bullock, who, upon winning the worst actress trophy for the rom-com All About Steve in 2010, pulled up to the ceremony with a wagon full of All About Steve DVDs and three people wearing “Team Bullock” T-shirts. “I think this is an extraordinary award,” she said in her acceptance speech.

Tied for second place with five nominations are The Exorcist: Believer, a revival of the classic horror series that nobody asked for, and Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, a slasher take on A. A. Milne’s beloved children’s classic.

Voted for by more than 1,000 Golden Raspberry Foundation members — which anyone can join for a fee of $40 — there are nine Razzie categories, including worst director, worst screenplay, and worst prequel/remake/rip-off/sequel.

Not even Oscar-winner Russell Crowe is immune from the Razzies sting. Crowe is up for worst actor for his performance as Father Gabriel Amorth in Australian director Julius Avery’s The Pope’s Exorcist.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, which stars a digitally de-aged Harrison Ford, is nominated for worst sequel. The film, which flopped at the box office, earned a warm, 3-and-a-half-star review from The Australian’s critic Stephen Romei, who wrote, “There are lots of bangs in this two-plus hours of pure entertainment.”
